The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has rested its SIGTAS-Integrated Tax Administration System (SIGTAS-ITAS).

Executive Chairman, FIRS, Mr. Muhammad Nami, disclosed this development in a public notice issued on Monday 7 February 2022.

Mr. Nami stated that the scrapping of the SIGTAS-ITAS payment solution became imperative following the successful “full implementation of the TaxPro-Max Solution”, a much more advance, state-of-the-art Information Communication Technology (ICT) solution.

The FIRS public statement reads in full:

“The general public is hereby notified that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has discontinued the use of the SIGTAS-Integrated Tax Administration System (SIGTAS-ITAS). This is as a result of the full implementation of the TaxPro-Max Solution.

“TaxPro-Max is an in-house developed full-fledged tax administration solution deployed since 2021 with the principal objective of automating our tax administration processes. The platform is enabled for filing tax returns, raising assessments, processing payments and carrying out other tax administration functions.

“The Service will also like to assure the public that taxpayers’ data from the discontinued SIGTAS-ITAS have been securely and successfully migrated and archived, in line with the Service data protection and privacy rules.

“The Federal Inland Revenue Service has been providing awareness and technical support through various channels to our taxpayers on the transition to TaxPro-Max Solution.   We urge all our stakeholders to embrace and support the use of the TaxPro-Max Solution as it will improve tax administration, by easing the process of tax compliance, enhancing transparency and providing convenience.
