No fewer than 1,700 people have been rendered homeless, with 600 hectares of farmlands submerged and hundreds of livestock washed away as flash flood ravaged four villages in Gada local government, Sokoto State.
Confirming the incident in a statement signed by Bashar Abubakar, the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, he hinted that the Senator was deeply touched by the ugly incident.
Senator Wamakko who is the State APC Leader, a former governor in Sokoto and currently represents Sokoto North Senatorial District.
Wamakko, who expressed worry over the unfortunate occurrence disclosed that the heavy down pour turned into flood in the farming villages of Dantudu, Balakozo, Gidan-Tudu, and Tsitse all in Gada local government area of the state.
While sympathizing with the people of Gada, Senator Wamakko described the incident as shocking and disheartening, justs as prayed to Allah the Almighty to avert the re-occurrence of such heart-wrenching incident.
In his appreciation to God that no live was lost despite the huge magnitude of the incident, Senator Wamakko however expressed worries that the victims’ sources of livelihood including foodstuff have been flooded away.
