The on-going free feeding of public primary school pupils initiated by the Kaduna State Government, is recording significant successes in some local government areas in Southern Kaduna.
A visit by The Dream Daily to LGEA Model School Safio Mafok Government indicated that the programme was running without hitches. Head teacher of the school, Mr. Jonah Kabuk, noted with satisfaction that since the programme commenced, steady progress was recorded.
At the LGEA primary school Antrung, also in Kaura LGA, head teacher, Mrs Christiana Kanwai applauded the initiative, describing it as a step in the right direction. Mrs Kanwai said the gesture has caused an impressive turnout of pupils in the school.
Also at the UBE Primary School Langson Mabushi in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, the Assistant Head Mistress, Mrs Azumi Aboi, commended the food vendors for prompt delivery. While appreciating the quality of food served, Mrs Aboi called for the sustenance of the standard.
In Jema’a Local Government Area, the head teacher of Aliyu Waziri Model Primary School Kafanchan, Malam Aliyu Ibrahim, said though the take-off was delayed briefly, the feeding programme was going on smoothly.
In all the schools visited, however the staff identified lack of sufficient classrooms, furniture and dilapidate structures as existing challenges that required government prompt intervention.
