A cement truck with the inscription of Dangote Group on it has claimed nine lives by NNPC mega station/ opposite Asaba international airport along Beni-Asaba/ Onitsha express way at the weekend in Asaba.
Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Delta State, Mr Rindom Kumuen who confirmed the accident, said it was as result of route and speed violations.
The sector commander disclosed that five men and three female were burnt beyond recognition in the incident while two survived.
An eyewitness said that the cause of the accident was the fuel scarcity: “There was a long queue of vehicles at the NNPC mega station waiting to buy fuel which necessitated that vehicles take one way near the station,” he stated.
