Fulani Herdsmen on Wednesday again struck at Ossissa on Kwale/Asaba Road, killing a retired Civil Servant Magnus Offor and a commercial driver whose identity was not ascertained at the time of this report.
The suspected herdsmen, numbering over 15 reportedly dashed out from the bush on sighting the long convoy of commercial vehicles that were heading to Asaba-Onitsha market.
The suspects, who brandished various dangerous weapons, shot sporadically at two of their victims’ vehicles, including a Hilux van, belonging to the Aniocha South Local Government council and a Toyota Camry.
Though number of casualty could not be ascertained as at press time, according to witnesses “over five passengers were shot after dispossessing them of their belongings.
One of the passengers who broke down in tears gave a graphic account of how he was robbed of N250,000 by the dare-devil herdsmen
Mr. Rufus Efe, one of the victim, said he was ordered out of the vehicle at gun point and requested to lie down while his pockets were thoroughly searched and the N250,000 cash which he concealed inside his pocket was brought out after receiving several punches.
Over 20 passengers traveling to Ughelli, Warri, Bayelsa and Port Harcourt, were also held hostage by the suspected herdsmen.
The Dream Daily gathered that majority of the cars that were trapped by the hoodlums at about 5p.m were going from Asaba to the aforementioned towns and neighbouring states.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Celestina Kalu, could not be reached for comments.
