The Kwara State chapter of the Odua Peoples Congress(OPC) has denied claim
by National President, Afonja Descendant Union,Alhaji Olola Kasumu that he has dumped Otunba Gani Adams.
The State Coordinator of OPC, Comrade Maruff Olarewaju Salam, who stated this in a statement in Ilorin said there was no time Kasumu was recognised as the co-founders of the group.
“We would have ignored his statement by Olola Kasumu because of his present condition but because of general public and to put the record straight and to let the public aware that he is a great liar Olola Kasumu joined OPC in 1998 the same year I joined OPC, he was not
among of the 9 (nine) people that formed OPC in 1994.
“In the year 1998/99 Olola kasumu started his hanky-panky game and his dubious character by calling himself Baba Odua. When he failed to gain the position, he ran to Dr Fredric Fasheun faction of OPC in 2001, he was the man who masterminded the gamon crisis in 2001 by inviting Fasheun OPC to invade Ilorin on October 4, 2001. When the
mission’s failed, he was declared WANTED, he ran to Shagamu and later he was arrested but he was not prosecuted because of intervention of then Kwara State Governor, late Alhaji Muhammed Lawal, who happened to be his brother.

“Later he was sent out of Fasheun OPC and he joined “ORA “. Upon
all these Otunba Dr Gani Adams has helped Olola Kasumu financially during his father’s burial ceremony. When he lost his only child, I personally took him to Lagos times without numbers whenever he is in need of financial help; not only him in the Afonja family likewise
the late Baba Isale of ilorin and Alhaji Saadu Usuman.”
Salman, who said that OPC has been reformed and repackaged by Otunba Gani Adams, noted that the reformation has gone beyond the imagination of people like Olola Kasumu. He said the group has gave birth to many organisations like Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) which is now in 58 countries, Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF) the organisations
that promote about 18 festivals per year, Gani Adams foundation (GAF) the organisation that gives scholarship to students of various institution, above all is Oodua Economic Empowerment Initiative (OEEI) that assists the common people in improving their living
“The entire OPC and Otunba Dr Gani Adams acknowledged the struggle of Afonja people but they need to caution Olola Kasumu on his fallacy and reckless statements because of the family image.
