Niger State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has challenged Nigerian women to give their male counterparts a good run for leadership positions in the country.
He threw the challenge while swearing-in the second female state Chief Judge, Justice Maria Dzukogi and the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Ibrahim Isa Ladan in Minna, the state capital.
The governor eulogized the country’s women for showing competence and competitive spirit in the Judiciary by becoming Chief Justice of the country few years ago.
He however encouraged them “to give the men a good run in other leadership positions in the country”.
He noted that the emergence of the second female Chief Judge for the state was an opportunity for them to demonstrate their worth and show that they have come of age and can aspire to occupy any leadership position in the country.
The governor then charged the judiciary to rise up to public criticisms of delayed justice, corruption and other inconsistent practices if it must play its vital role in the voyage of nationhood.
He maintained that for judiciary to deepen the country’s democratic culture stakeholders in the sector must make deliberate efforts to uproot all the challenges, incubate a more viral professional and ethical practice.
Governor Sani Bello assured the new Chief Judge and the entire Judicial arm of government in the state that his administration was committed to ensuring the welfare of judges and pledged to support the arm in the discharge of its duties.
The governor also urged the new Secretary to the State Government as the engine room to discharge his duties with high sense of patriotism, sincerity, motivation and dedication in accordance with the change mantra.
He told the new scribe that the task ahead of him is daunting as he was joining the administration at a crucial time when dedication and commitment can not be compromised.
