Governor Emmanuel Seeks More Investors For Akwa Ibom

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state has urged indigenous and foreign investors to key into the various programmes currently embarked upon by Akwa Ibom state government as a means of ensuring improved economy of the state.
The governor maintained that the strides recorded by the one month old government attested to the readiness of government to vigorously pursue the development goals of industrialization, food security, manpower development, job creation, youth and women development.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Moses frank Ekpo, made the appeal while speaking at the formal opening of Stanford Micro-finance Bank established by Idems Ultimate Limited in Uyo, further assured that government was not only committed to consolidating on the land mark achievements of its predecessor, which laid a solid foundation to be an attraction to investors, but also poised to chart new paths and break fresh ground to exceed the current investor friendly rating.
He recalled that in a bid to achieve these goals he has constituted a ten man technical committee on implementation of ibaka deep sea port project and ensured timely delivery. Ekpo said two other committees, technical committee on agriculture and committee on investments would soon be constituted to ensure the realization of food sufficiency agenda and industrialization of the state.
Congratulating the promoter of the bank, Mr. Unyime Idem on the feat, the governor observed that the specialized product of the bank like standard enterprise account, Standard educational account standard citadel, showed that the bank was committed to raising the next generation of entrepreneurs in the state and beyond.
The governor urged the management of the bank to adopt global best practices in its operation and comply strictly with the regulatory requirements from the Central Bank, Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and other regulatory agencies in the financial sub-sector.
The chairman of the bank, Idem, said the financial institution was a dream realized and aimed at becoming a world class banking institution emerging to satisfy financial needs of the customers.
Idem pointed out that the products of the bank were designed to add value to the lives of customers through the spirit of entrepreneurship.
He hinted that Idems Ultimate Limited, a major dealer for Airtel Nigeria MTN Nigeria, Globacom Nigeria Communications limited and Etisalat Nigeria Limited had engaged the services of 226 staff, 3,200 appointed retailers and 901 sub-distributors.
He assured that the bank would add value to the socio-economic wellbeing of the people and make them to be self-reliant.
Idems urged residents of the state to identify with the bank and enjoy all the services provided in order to better their wellbeing.
