‘APC Governors Meet Wednesday’
*North-Central May Opt For Consensus Candidate, Says Kwara Governor
Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahaman Abdulrazak, has disclosed that the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains neutral as to who would be Speaker of the 10th National Assembly.
Abdulrazak stated this on Monday 4 April, 2023 when current Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, called on him in Abuja as part of Wase’s ongoing national consultation over his bid to be the next Speaker of the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
Governor Abdulrazak also stated that the North-Central would go all out to have the Speakership since the region has qualified candidates like Wase.
Abdulrazak disclosed that the Speakership of the 10th Assembly would be part of the agenda for discussion at a meeting of the governors on Wednesday 5 April, 2023.

The governor stated: “We in the North Central had resolved long before now that whatever we are qualified to go for, we shall go for it. That was the resolution under the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and that was the reason the Kogi governor fought to be president.
“For now, the party had not taken any position and even the president-elect has remained neutral and maintained that neutrality till this moment.
“By the Grace of the Almighty Allah, the APC governors will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) and possibly open discussions on it. For now, everything and everywhere is fluid and it is good you (Wase) are coming out.
“For us in the North-Central, we shall meet shortly and ensure we go for a consensus candidate and that person must be an experienced hand with the required calmness and pedigree. That will be our beacon and I have no doubt about your (Wase’s) experience.”
