A governorship aspirant in Plateau State, Dr. Nentawe Yilwada, has promised to wean the state off federal allocation and deploy cutting-edge technologies to tackle the problem of insecurity bedevilling Plateau if elected governor of the state in the 2023 General Elections.
Yilwada spoke on Thursday, 5th May, 2022 after he picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial forms in Abuja.
He said: “We don’t have a funding framework for security in the state. Number two, we don’t have early response and early warning security system in the state. So, coming in, I will deploy technology and ensure that we have early warning system to track people who are killing us. I will send a bill to the state House of Assembly to ensure that we get that done. I will also ensure that we train the hunters at the lower level along with our own security agencies.”
Yilwada continued: “I will also get a bill to the House of Assembly to ensure that we have a funding framework for security in the state to ensure that we have early response system, early warning system within the communities to stop the rampant killings in the state.
“In the economy, our poverty level has grown from 11% in 1999 to 25% right now. I want to ensure that I drop the poverty rating in four years and I will do that by opening more economic opportunities for the people, open economic zones and mainstream agriculture which is one of the easiest in the state that can build the economy, create jobs and bring the youths and women into the economy.
On the mode of primary the APC would likely use, Yilwada said: “Any one the party adopts, I can win because I am the most popular candidate from the state. My slogan is “Generation Next”. I have been with the youths and the elderly. I don’t think I will have an issue. So any mode of election I’m prepared for it.”
