Special Adviser to the governor at the Bureau for Budget Monitoring and Price Intelligence, Mr. Thomas Gyang, has said he was grateful and proud to associate with the administration for positive change of Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Gyang spoke at his country home, Marsa, in an interview with journalists after the finals of the maiden edition of late Musa Amadu Memorial Peace and Unity Soccer Championship, which he initiated and sponsored.
The special adviser, who is the immediate Past Public Relations Officer, Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU) said for anybody to appreciate what the administration of El-Rufai was doing, to revamp education, health, agriculture and security sectors, there was the need to know the level of decay in these key sectors.
He noted with appreciation that the present administration has not only restored peace and security of lives and property, but has mainstream governance by involving the citizenry in decision-making through town –hall meetings, aside establishment of casteller in which 3,000 youth were employed and trained and the employment of science teachers for post-primary schools.
Mr. Gyang said plans were on to provide boreholes in every village for portable drinking water, while rail transport will be given priority attention to reduce transport cost, traffic hold up and accidents on Kaduna roads.
Suing for support for government, Mr Gyang said other areas that government has given priority attention was training of 10 people from each ward on bee keeping for honey production, which will start yielding result by April , this year.
Speaking further on youth development through sports, he said the APC administration in Kaduna State was planning a football academy to empower the youth for employment within and outside the country. “ I initiated and sponsored the late Malam Musa Amadu Memorial Unity and Peace Soccer Championship in Marsa District as my modest contribution to get some talented youths for admission into the academy”, he said.
The governor, he went on, “ has saved the state a lot of money expended on ghost workers, through staff verification, and our pensioners would soon be receiving their benefits as at when due”.
On the area of education, Mr. Gyang said the administration of El-Rufai has concluded arrangement and commencement of free feeding, provision of text books and uniforms for primary school pupils, aside the renovation, equipping and standardization of primary and secondary schools.
“Everyone in the state is aware that 255 primary health centres in each ward would be rehabilitated and equipped to render health care services. This is aside repairs and equipping a General Hospital in each senatorial zone to handle serious referral cases. There are many other plans under way. I am therefore appealing to the people of this state to give this administration the needed support and cooperation to implement these developmental projects and programmes for the wellbeing and prosperity of all,” he concluded.
