In what could be termed his first charge at the 2023 electoral barricades, the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, on Friday, 1 April, 2022, gave the marching order to party members in Taraba State to add that state to the APC fold via the 2023 General Elections.

Adamu issued the directive while receiving an APC delegation from Taraba State which visited him on a courtesy call as he assumed office as the national chairman of the party.

Addressing journalists shortly after their meeting with Adamu, leader of the Taraba delegation, Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha, said their visit to the new chairman was propelled by the common purpose of restoring APC back in power in Taraba.

Bwacha said: “This visit is propelled by the fact that we are one family and we need to show the world that indeed we are one and united by a common purpose. This common purpose is to restore back the glory of Taraba State by ensuring that the new government in Taraba State is APC.  Essentially, this is our interface with the national chairman. We wish him well knowing the capacity in him”.

On how the APC was prepared to take over Taraba, another member of the delegation and Board Member, Federal Revenue and Fiscal Mobilization Commission, Ahmed Rusco, said the APC had grassroots reach in Taraba State.

Rusco stated: “Structurally, as constituted politically in Taraba State, we have two senators, Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha and Sen. Yusuf A Yusuf, four out of six Federal House of Representatives members, five state House of Assembly members, including the minority leader. That’s why we are emboldened to say that come 2023, we have the capacity and strength to capture power in Taraba state. Moreso, when the national chairman himself gave us the marching order and template. If we use the template, by the grace of God we will win election”.
