Insecurity: COAS Pledges Death For Terrorists, Bandits

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt-Gen. Olufemi Oluyode, has reiterated that the military are determined to kill all terrorists and bandits in the nation.

Oluyode, who stated this in Sokoto during his Ed-el-Kabir celebration with troops of the 8 Division, Nigeria Army added that the security agency is one big family that works as a team to ensure that the nation is secure at all times. 

The COAS, represented by the Commander, Cyber Warfare Command, Maj.-Gen. Adeleke Ayannuga, said, “To all the bandits that are terrorizing the good people of our nation, we will fish them out. We will smoke them and send them to their makers”. 

While noting that the religious occasion is  significant, the COAS said it symbolises sacrifice, devotion to duty, hence he would continue to commend and appreciate  the services of the security agencies to the nation.

The COAS said: “Today’s celebration is not merely a cultural or religious event. It is a moment to reflect on the values that unite us. These are loyalty, discipline, courage and selfless service, which form the very foundation upon which the Nigerian family is built. 

“This season reminds us that sacrifice for our  great nation is a noble act, and I can see those values exemplified daily in your actions dedication and your unwavering commitment to protecting our country, particularly in the Joint Task Force North West operation, FATSAN YAMMA. 

“Your commitment to duty remains a source of inspiration to us all. You embody the true spirit of patriotism, standing tall against threats to our nation’s peace and stability. Let me assure you that your sacrifices are not in vain. And I repeat, your sacrifices are not in vain”.

The COAS further assured that the welfare of troops and their families, remains a top priority, added that they will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the needs of troops are met. 

“”The Nigerian Army, under my leadership, remains resolute in prioritizing your welfare, enhancing operational capabilities and supporting all efforts aimed at improving your efficiency and effectiveness in the field. We shall continue to provide all necessary combat enablers, logistics, trainings and moral support to ensure you remain a formidable force against all threats,” he stated.

Continuing, the COAS appealed to officers of Operation FATSAN YAMMA to continue to uphold the ideas of the Nigerian Army and defend the sovereignty of the nation with honor so that they can together achieve transformative victories in all  operational theaters. 

He also stated that they use such an important occasion to remember gallant comrades who have paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, adding that their bravery and sacrifices will never be forgotten and assured continued  support and solidarity to the their families. 

Earlier in his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander Sector Operation FATSAN YAMMA, Maj.-Gen. Ibikunle Ajose said the Eid-el-Adha event also served as a reminder and source of strenght for the military’s resolve to ensure that the country is safe for all.
