Insurgency: Michika Celebrates Boko Haram’s Defeat With Cultural Day

Kamwe, who are better known as Michika people of Adamawa State, North East Nigeria for the first time celebrated their cultural day in the town after its recapture from Boko Haram by the Nigerian military forces Army when the town was over ran by Boko Haram.
The celebration also included presentation of a book etitled: “Kamwe People of Northern Nigeria: Origin, History and Culture ” authored by a London, United Kingdom-based son of the soil, Barr. Iliya Yame Kwache.
Thousands of their sons and daughters graced the occasion to thank God for making them to return to their homes and origin which they deserted for over one and half years because of Boko Haram attacks.
A prominent Kamwe son and the Special Guest of Honour at the event, Mr Boni Haruna, who was presented by Hon. Salisu Gogura, called on the people of Kamwe to unite irrespective of political and religious affiliations.
The former governor of Adamawa State stressed that the unity of the people was of paramount important to the development of the area, state and the country at large, knowing how industrious they are.
The book Reviewer, Dr Samuel I. Gogura, described the author of the book as a courageous, daring and humble man inspired to show case Kamwe to the world.
Catholic Bishop of Adamawa State, Bishop (Dr) Dami Mamza, blamed Michika politicians for causing serious disunity in the land.
The cleric said: “Michika politicians are our major problem. If we are one nobody will divide us, if we are one our voice must be heard, we would have been better off than this; we must be united”.
Various traditional dancers like Zittha, Gola-Gola, Tarmai, Tuvi,Viviri Ghee, Wshu letsa pawa, Feri wsha, Nga Annel Jinate, Dafe Kwatkukwei, Nta Wry and Kamwe students cultural dances featured at the event.
