IPOB: Suleja Igbo Assured Of Their Safety

Following the apprehension caused by the Independent People Of Biafra, (IPOB) agitation in Abia state, the Igbo community in Suleja local government of Niger state have been assured of peaceful coexistence and safety of their lives and properties.
The Council Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Maje, gave the assurance in a meeting held at his instance at the local government secretariat.
Suleja town is where majority of the population are Igbo businessmen who have locked up their businesses and are returning home.
Maje decried the situation whereby the Igbo were vacating the town they have lived in for decades while assuring them of adequate protection of their lives and properties in Suleja.
He urged both Islamic and Christian clerics to preach peace and harmony in their domains just as no meaningful development could be achieved in an atmosphere of violence.
The Eze Igbo Suleja, HRH Eze Chibueze Okoli who expressed confidence in the council however urged the chairman not to relent as he reassured them of security protection added that the peace and unity of Nigeria was not negotiable.
Also, President-General Igbo Community Association, Suleja, Chief Innocent Nwokocha applauded the courage of the chairman and pledged their unalloyed support and loyalty to Nigeria.
He noted that everyone has the right to expressed themselves but should not cross the line of peaceful coexistence of the country, adding that national leaders in the country should be fair in their dealings, urging Nigerians to eschew mutual mistrust.
The Suleja Area Commander of the Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Danjuma Aboki, disclosed that the apprehension between last Thursday and Sunday was a cause for concern, assuring however, that the Police have been proactive and on top of the situation.
