… Apologised to Council Chief
Following the last Tuesday incident that threw the Issele-Uku community in Aniocha North Local Government Area into a jolt as some staff of Benin Electricity Distribution Company(BEDC) stormed the step-down transformer in the community with a view to vandalizing the equipment, the BEDC has stated that the so-called act of “vandalism”, insisting that “we (BEDC) cannot vandalise our property.
Engr. Albert Esenaohalu who led the BEDC team at a meeting held at the Obi Palace Issele-uku on Monday, said that the law allowed BEDC to take any component or equipment from one station to the other.
Esenaohalu: “We want to correct the impression that we vandalized Issele-Uku electricity. How can we vandalise our own property? what we did was remove the panel unit from sub-station that was not functional with a view to replacing it when the need arises. The law allows us to take one component to repair another. We are sorry for the action. There is a misstep, but today we are here to resolve the issues.”
The BEDC official then apologised to the council chairman and the entire Issele-uku community over the incidence.
