Staff of Jaba Local Government in Kaduna State has been warned against embezzlement of funds, especially federal grants and internally generated revenue accruing to the local council.
Mr. Ben Kure, the Chairman Interim Management Council (IMC) of the Local Government gave the warning on Wednesday during a meeting and staff award presentation in the Council Chambers at the Secretariat Kwoi.
The IMC Chairman noted that the warning was necessary against the backdrop of dwindling financial resources due to global economic depression which has affected both oil prices sole dependent upon by Nigeria as well as the Federation grant accruing to the Council.
The Council Chairman said his administration has initiated a staff monthly award which commenced in April this year to boost the morale of the workforce to put in their best of service.
The award, Mr. Kure said, will be in categories, based on the different cadres of the workforce, pointing that the principal objective of the initiative was to give the staff a sense of belonging to the overall development of the Local Government. The chairman warned against such bad attitude, stressing “it must stop”.
Responding, the Director of Administration and General Service Mr. Michael Saka assured the Interim Council of staff cooperation for the attainment of set objectives.
