The Junior Chamber International Nigeria (JCIN) Federal Polytechnic Offa chapter has organised interdepartmental speech competition among the students of the institution in the school campus.
The theme of the contest was” Education, solution to youth unemployment” which was aimed at increasing the knowledge of the students about entreprenuership and make them self reliance.
The competition was however named after Late Ademola Bamigbelu, a student of Science and Laboratory Technology (SLT) who lost his life in a ghastly motor accident on his way to his hometown in 2006.
Sunmisola Quadri and Emmanuel Christiana of the department of Office and Technology Management (OTM) topped the list of winners with a total of 53points while the department of Science and Laboratory Technology(SLT) came second with 50 points and the department of Mass Communication took the third position with 47 points.
The JCIN Chapter President, Bakare Ajibola, said “the project is carried out annually to contribute to academic activities on campus while the topic is due to the fact that the government is preaching about entrepreneurship without practicing it. So it serves as an avenue to expose students to the importance of entrepreneurship in the society and gets them engaged in the practice”.
