Administrator, Jema’a Local Government, Yusuf Mu’azu Usman has charged residents of the area to prioritise good health and peaceful co-existence.
Usman made the call at the weekend at Godogodo, while flagging off the April round of polio immunization exercise.
The council chief noted that “sound health and peace are next to godliness. They are inseparable and are pillars for the wellbeing of individuals, the family and the society. Therefore, they should not be relegated, but given top priority in our choices”.
Appreciating the roles of women in the home, the administrator tasked them to ensure regular immunization of their children against all diseases as well as maintain and preach peace in their homes and communities, which will enable government channel resources to appropriate sectors that need attention.
In a welcome address, Director of Primary Health Care (P.H.C) Department, Mrs. Sarah Dadai, said high number of missed children recorded in the February immunization exercise informed the decision to flag off the exercise in Godogodo Chiefdom.
Mrs. Dadai advised parents to shun the temptation of allowing their children to miss any immunization as this could jeopardize the health and survival of not only their wards but other children around.
High points of the polio flag-off ceremony included health talks by health officers, on when and how to get types of immunization from age zero to five years.
The event was attended by traditional and religious leaders.
