As the Kaduna state SIECOM rounds up its public Education programme in zone three B, stakeholders in the political industry have been challenged to sacrifice their individual desires for collective interests of their communities.
The Commissioner in-charge of the zone, Professor Andrew A. Nkom threw the challenge while addressing stakeholders in Kaura Local Government council multi-purpose hall.
Prof. Nkom said it was incumbent on communities to assist elected representatives by articulating their needs to give them a sense of direction.
He regretted a situation where some elected representatives are left on their own to determine what to do for their constituencies after election, saying such representatives cannot be blamed for poor performance.
In a presentation of wards and constituencies, the electoral officer Kaura Local Government, Mr. Bello Gwaduma, advised communities that agitate for more polling units, wards and constituencies to channel their requests through their elected officials to appropriate quarters for solution.
In a remark on behalf of other royal fathers, the Chief of Kagoro, Mr. Ufuwai Bonnet, who was represented by Mr. Lucas Zamani, said the sensitization programme could not have come at a better time in view of the anticipated local government election.
The royal father called on politicians to always ensure they play the game according to the rule, to pave a way for a hitch free election.
SIECOM has also advised those who have lost their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC’s) to report to the police, obtain court affidavit and meet the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for them to get another card. Those who have left their former places of abode, where they were registered should apply to INEC, attaching the permanent voter card for transfers to enable them vote in their new location.
