Against the backdrop of incessant complaints by the public over lack of sufficient drugs at the Kafanchan General Hospital, the Medical Director, Dr. Jonathan Gajere, has assured that adequate plans were being made to address the situation.
He stated this, while fielding questions from journalists on the issue on Wednesday in his office.
Dr Gajere said aside from providing sufficient drugs in the hospital, the Management in collaboration with the state Ministry of Health was also working out modalities to have drugs at a quantity that could serve the needs of smaller health facilities around.
On the allegation of rising child and maternal mortality rates in the facility, the Medical Director dismissed the allegation, describing it as “baseless.”
He said the health facility accords deserving attention to pregnant women, in view of their situation to guard against any ugly development
Gajere, however, appealed to members of the public to always take pregnant women in labour to the hospital in good time and not to wait until the situation becomes helpless.
It will be recalled that people have persistently complained of lack of drugs at the pharmacy department at the Kafanchan General Hospital, which often makes them go to patent medicine stores to acquire them, even without certainty of their genuineness.
Gajere commended the efforts of the state government at equipping the hospital with modern health equipment, describing it as a morale booster to staff.
He also lauded MTN for renovating and equipping the maternity ward of the hospital.
