The Wife of the Administrator, Kaura Local Council, Mrs. Rhoda Basahuwa Agog has charged Health workers in the Area to ensure that children of age zero and five are immunized against the dreaded polio disease.
Mrs Rhoda Agog gave the charge during the flag off exercise of the fifth round of the polio immunization held at the Catholic Church Kadarko.
She described the polio disease as deadly and inimical to the survival and well being of children and a source that drains the economy of not only the families of affected children but that of the society they live in.
Reminding parents that children were special gift from God, Mrs Agog admonished them to accord the health care of their wards the seriousness it deserves.
In his speech, the Administrator of the council, Mr Zitung Basahuwa Agog re-iterated the determination of the Council and the State Government to providing quality health care service, especially to people at the grassroots.
He announced the plans of the Local Government to conduct a free medical exercise for those having ear, nose and throat problems in the area.
Speaking on behalf of royal fathers of the area, his highness the Agwam Takad, Mr. Tobias Nkom Wada, who is also the social Mobilization Committee chairman on polio, assured of the committee’s readiness to contribute its quota to the success of the fight against polio and other child killer diseases.
Similarly, the Administrator, Jema’a Local Government, Yusuf Usman Muazu has expressed satisfaction and appreciation over the return of peace, which has boosted business and developmental activities in the area.
Speaking during the flag off this month polio immunization exercise at the palace of the Emir of Jema’a in Kafanchan on Friday, Usman Muazu said that the large turnout of mothers and their children at the ceremony was an indication of the peaceful nature of the area.
Represented by the Head of Administration of the Local Government, Mr. Eli Sajo, the Administrator said meaningful development would not be achieved without peace, hence the need for the people to continue to coexist peacefully.
Muazu also called on mothers to appreciate the efforts of donor agencies and the Nigerian Government for ensuring the wellbeing of their wards by according the exercise all the needed cooperation for the achievement of set goals.
Giving his royal blessings, the Emir of Jema’a Alh. Muhammadu Isa Muhammadu assured Government at all levels of his people’s cooperation, for the success of the programme and commended the giant efforts of all stake holders at ensuring the health and well being of Nigeria Children.
In a remark, the Director of Health, Jema’a Local Government, Mrs. Sarah Dade called on parents, especially nursing mothers, not to relent at protecting their children from all child killer diseases.
While in their separate remarks, the State Technical Facilitator, Mrs Rahab David and the WHO representative, Mr. Danjuma Makoshi advised parents not to allow their children to go unimmunized, as one unimmunized child is capable of infecting two hundred children in a given area.
