In an effort to ensure the survival of ailing Isa Hamma who is on dialysis at the Federal Medical Centre Yola and whose kidney was removed last month at the Jimeta Clinic and Maternity after medical operation, Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla of Adamawa state has made a personal donation of N5 million for the kidney transplant in Kano.
The governor who visited the patient on his hospital bed said the gesture was based on humanitarian ground.
“I decided to assist the patient with N5 million the cost of the kidney transplant to be performed in Kano and it is personal based on humanitarian ground,” he said.
The governor who frowned at the attitude of the physician who performed the kidney operation at the Jimeta Clinic described it as “unfortunate”.
Meanwhile, a good Samaritan one Sani Mohammed from Jalingo, Taraba state has offered to donate his kidney to the ailing man.
Mallam Sani Mohammed said he was deeply touched when he heard the information on the condition of the patient and decided to offer the assistance to enable him survive and continue with his normal life.
“I don’t know the patient nor his relations. I heard about it over the media when I was in Kaduna and decided to come to Yola and offer the assistance needed by the patient” he added.
He stressed the need for people irrespective of race, religion or region to come to the aid of those in need any time such assistance is required.
