The Kwara South Senatorial Advancement Agenda (KSSAA) yesterday carpeted a sub Yoruba group, ‘Igbomina Youth’ for allegedly referring to the National Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Lai Mohammed as of Lagos extraction rather than being an indigene of Kwara State.

The group, at a press conference in Ilorin said those behind “the satanic rumour” should be examined in a competent hospital for psychiatric cases.

The development came on the heels of the recent nomination of Mohammed by President Muhammadu Buhari, occupying Kwara’s slot for the post of a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to the General Secretary of the KSSAA, Opeyemi Olabanji, Mohammed, remained a bonafide indigene of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara, a status he said made the APC stalwart qualified to contest without any hitch for the governorship of the
state some 12 years ago.

The “Igbomina Youth” had some days ago in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital described Mohammed as a native of Lagos state citing his biological son who at present is serving as a member of the House of Assembly member in Lagos.

Olabanji, in company with the President of the association, Adegboyega Adebisi and the Publicity Secretary Adefila Kolawole said: “Our attention has been drawn to an untoward publication in some of the national dailies (The Dream Daily not inclusive), about the insinuations against our illustrious son, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, that he is not a native of Kwara State, has no root here and has not contributed to the growth of the state and therefore not fit o be minister designate from Kwara state.

“The story is nauseating in its entirety and called for psychiatric examination for those that have made the insinuation against him. Have they forgotten that this same person contested for Governorship seat in Kwara state during 2003 general elections? Do these psychopaths
really know anything about Kwara State? Or do they want to sell their birthright because of a pot of porridge?

The KSSAA scribe said by virtue of citizenship and by birth, the son of Alhaji Mohammed, born and brought up in Lagos state is eminently qualified to vote or be voted for in Lagos, urging those raising the development as a veritable ground for disqualifying the ministerial nominee to do a rethink.
Olabanji added: “We challenge the group behind this insinuation to come to the open if not we will labelled them as unserious minded fellows. In any case, they should stop playing the ostrich for there is no hiding place for them. Let Mohammed be and have the change we
bargained for. We are tired of rabble rousers and political jobbers in Kwara State.”
