Local hunters and group of vigilante in Madagali area of Adamawa state have arrested 17 members of Boko Haram and killed over 100 of them.
The locals also carried out mop up operations in Madagali, Michika and Mubi hideout of the insurgents and rescued 280 women and children in the villages.
Sources revealed that three members of the local hunters sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of exchanged of gunfire with the insurgents and are presently receiving treatment in Madagali general Hospital.
It could be recalled that 200 youths were recruited and were given a special training to face the dreaded group two weeks ago by the Member presenting Madagali constituency in the House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Tsamdu.
The Adamawa police command spokesperson, Othman Abubakar, said the information was yet to reach his table after many effort to put a call through the Divisional police officer in Madagali to authenticate the information failed.
But the spokesperson to Emmanuel Tsamdu, Prince S Zuberu said there was remarkable success in using the local hunters in the area as the lawmaker representing Madagali constituency has travelled out of the country for official assignment.
“Last two weeks three members of Boko Haram were arrested and today 17 of them were killed, over 100 of them were arrested and 280 women and children were rescued from the shackles of Boko Haram. You will agree with me this is a success,” prince said.
