I am…
Mr. Nathaniel Unjingha. I am a Security Officer attached to the Federal Inland Revenue Service Abuja. I have been on this job for over 10 years now. I also hold Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in History from the prestigious Benue State University, Makurdi.
When Do You Resume And Close From Work?
Due to the nature of my work, I work 24 hours a day. I resume work from six o’clock in the morning and close six o’clock the following day.
How early do you leave home for work?
I leave home as early as five o’clock in the morning so as to meet up.
What Do You Enjoy About Your Job?
Well, the job is very challenging. However, my real happiness is when I deal with whoever wants to play smart with my intelligent. Sometimes people try to play smart but this gives me an opportunity to test my ability on the job.
What Qualities Must Have If I Want A Job Like Yours?
First of all, you must be polite at all time because you are dealing with the public. Be proactive by planning ahead. Punctuality to this work is also paramount. Above all, be on the alert at all times.
What Do You Not Like And Want To See Changed About Your Job?
Well, the dislike about the job is that many people in Nigeria take the security personnel as the last man on the social ladder. People approach and treat security personnel as if they are trash.
I will prefer if people appreciate and treat security personnel responsibly and reasonably at all times. We have families and most of us are educated as well. Some people think we are not but this notion is very wrong. However, due to the situation in our country right now, there are no jobs. So you do whatever you see. So we need respect as responsible citizens.
Tell Us About An Interesting Incidence You Had On The Job?
It was when I intelligently handle a pretender who wanted to play smart with me. He came and pretended that he wanted to see someone in the office. He was talking to another person on phone outside our premises but claimed it was the person he wanted to see in the office. When we contacted the person in our office, he denied expecting anybody. It was actually interesting but we handled it.
Any Bad Experience On The Job?
I thank God for now because I have not experienced or encounter any bad events on this job. So I give God the glory

On this page, The Dream Daily aims to increase society’s appreciation for all its members, especially those it looks down upon. Are you a lift operator at a high-rise building, petrol station attendant, Mai Ruwa (water vendor) in areas without pipe-borne water, etc? Does your job qualify for this page?
