The Governing Council of Mountain Top University, Prayer City, Ogun State, has appointed Dr Atinuke Olamide Idowu as Professor of Food Science and Technology in the Department of Food Science and Technology.
Professor Atinuke Idowu is a researcher with experience in Food Science, Food and Nutrition, Food Processing, Food Product Development, and the Evaluation of Bioactive Components in Food. She obtained her first degree (B. Tech.) in Food Science and Technology from the Federal University of Technology, Akure and graduated with a Second Class Upper Division in 2001. In 2007, she obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Food Science and Technology from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State. In 2014, she earned a PhD in Food Technology from the University of Ibadan. She is currently the Head, Department of Food Science and Technology, Mountain Top University. She has served the university in various capacities.
She started her academic career at Redeemer’s University, Osun State, as an Assistant Lecturer in 2008. In 2015, she joined Mountain Top University as a Lecturer 1 and rose through the ranks.
Besides her academic engagements, Professor Idowu has earned industry experience in established multinational companies. She was the Assistant Manager at UAC Nigeria Plc, Abuja, from 2002 to 2004. During her Youth Service, she served at Nigerian Breweries Plc, Kaduna, as a Quality Assurance Personnel. She also worked at Promasidor Nigeria Ltd, Apapa, Lagos, from 1999 to 2000 and at Nigerian Bottling Company, Apapa, Lagos, as a Quality Assurance Personnel from 1998 to 1999.
She has supervised many Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in her academic career. Professor Idowu is an accomplished scholar with many published academic articles in renowned international and local journals. She has also contributed many chapters to edited books. The beautiful Professor Atinuke Idowu is happily married with children.
