The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Workers (NARTO) Nasarawa state chapter has appealed to the state government to urgently effect the provision of parking space for its members in Lafia, the state capital.
Chairman of the association, Alhaji Mohammed Maitalo, who made the appeal during a chat with newsmen in his office, expressed concern over the lack of a park for tankers and trailers in lafia metropolis, adding that his members are currently facing difficulties for parking in unauthorised places within the city.
According to him, the state Governor Tanko Almakura had recently assured them of parking place in Shabu and Makurdi road but wonders why work on the proposed two parks had not commenced.
He said the parks when actualized will further boost commercial activities in Lafia and increase internally generated revenue of the state.
Alhaji Maitalo, who commended the state governor for his developmental strides in the last four years, especially in the area of road construction, health, electricity, education and rural development promised NARTO’s determination to partner with the state government to sustain the current peace in the area and work for the speedy growth of the state.
He charged his members to be orderly in the discharge of their duties and work strictly by the laws of the land.
