Nasarawa RTEAN To NURTW: ‘Stop Attacking Our Members’

Nasarawa State Chairman of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Alhaji Ibrahim Bashir Maina, has cautioned members of Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the area to desist from further attack on its members.
Maina, who issued the warning during a chat with Newsmen in Lafia, was reacting to recent fracas between a group of NURTW and his members at Bukan Sidi in Lafia metropolis, which led to destruction of a car and other properties belonging to RTEAN members in the state.
According to him, both NURTW and RTEAN are recognized associations, registered under Degree 22 of 1978, adding that both unions have been relating well in other states of the federation but wonders why the existence of his association is now a problem to NURTW in the state.
Maina, who said his members were peace-loving citizens of the state and will continue to abide in it amidst every odds, called on the leadership of NURTW in the state to sensitize its members on the need to follow the path of peaceful coexistence at all times.
According to him, the present leadership of RTEAN in the state will not be deterred by any external forces against the association. Instead, it will continue to do her best possible to compliment government effort in job creation and sustenance of peace in the state.
