A former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Samuel Afolayan (rtd) has called on the Federal Government to be pro-active in addressing the various challenges confronting the Nation.
Afolayan made the call in Osi, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State while answering question from reporters.
The former naval chief urged the government to implement its economic reform that would automatically address the security challenges bedeviling the Nation.
He noted that with a strong economy the country would be able to procure the necessary military equipment to strengthen peace in the Land.
Afolayan revealed that he had lost over N100 million due to the activities of herdsmen calling on the federal government to create ranches as the case in developed countries to stem the frequent clashes between farmers and herdsmen.
He called on the National Assembly not to pass the National Grazing Bill as it is against the interest of the people.
Admiral Afolayan, who is the Provincial Vice Lay President of the African Church, charged the church to take its full position of championing the course of the people.
He called on Nigerians to be contented, shun selfishness, move closer to God and strive to contribute their quota to the development and progress of the Country.
Afolayan advised Nigerians that are above 60 years of age not to aspire to occupy public offices as there would not be enough energy and strength to meet the challenges and demand of such office.
Also, a one-time gubernatorial candidate in Oyo state, Elder Oladapo Oladosu, said restructuring the country through fiscal federalism would help address several challenges faced by the nation and help each region to develop at its own pace .
