The Nigerian Navy (NNS) Jubilee has arrested three suspected oil thieves and handed over to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
The suspects were arrested for allegedly stealing 8,420 litres of products suspected to be Premium Motor Spirits (PMS), two generators, one pumping machine and one 40 horse power out board engine.
Briefing journalists while handing over items, the Commander of the base, Commodore David Adeniran said the officers intercepted them in Volkswagen Vento car bearing two registration numbers, DUK144X4 and HW77ABC.
The NNS Jubilee has within two operations in one week intercepted one Volkwagen Vento car carrying illegal PMS products.
“What we are doing this afternoon is to handover to NSCDC culprits that were caught with this product and vehicle he said.
Adeniran, who was represented by Captain Emmanuel Nmoyen, executive officer of the base said that some of the suspects involved in the oil theft escaped .
Receiving the suspects, the state Commander of the NSCDC, Emmanuel Ojeniji commended the commander of the Navy for their firm commitment in protecting and defending the entire maritime environment in the country.
Ojeniji who was represented by Mr. Live White head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Command said that the Corps would conduct thorough investigation and prosecute any suspect found culpable.
He noted that the relationship that existed between the Nigerian navy and NSCDC would continue to be strong.
