The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Niger state has started the orientation of selected 1,232 beneficiaries of Skills For Job scheme in the state capital Minna and Bida respectively.
The programme whose objectives is to empower youths from poor and vulnerable households selected from single register with tools attitude and skills required to address the problem of unemployment in the country.
According to statement issued in Minna by the management said the plan the training will last for 9 months which would focused on life skills training, vocational/sector specific/ technical training, entrepreneurship skills and internship and apprenticeship training.
Apparently, skills for job constitute one of the component of the Youth Empowerment and Social Support Operation (YESSO), a World Bank initiative introduced to specifically assist youth from poor households have access to employment opportunities through a well -coordinated and structured training.
It stated that the orientation program is being organized by the NDE in partnership with a private sector to exposed participants to overview of YESSO and skills for job, trainees expectations, general safety precautions, personal behavior and project obligations to the trainees among others.
The training which is mandatory for all the selected trainees has Monday 20 – 21 March, 2017 slated for Chanchaga local government at UK Bello Arts Theatre, Minna while that of Bida comes up on Thursday 23 – 24 March 2017 respectively.
