‘New Bussa Has No Portable Water’

The Emir of Borgu in Niger state, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Kintoro IV has cried out for the supply of portable drinking water for the people of New Bussa and other parts of the emirate council.
The royal father, in a passionate appeal called on Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to urgently intervene in solving the perennial scarcity of water in the area.
He lamented that despite the presence of Kainji dam in New Bussa, the people faced acute hardship due to lack of portable water supply.
He appealed to the government to assist in drilling boreholes, regretting that the dam had affected all traditional water sources for the people.
Responding, Governor Abubakar Sank Bello said that his administration was fine-turning arrangement for supply of portable water in New Bussa.
According to him, the government has earmarked N43m for water supply project in New Bussa adding that water experts have been mobilised on site for the project.
The governor explained that he was on mid-term assessment tour of the state, adding that the tour was aimed at ensuring that campaign promises are fulfilled.
He thanked the royal father for ensuring peaceful coexistence of the people in the chiefdom, urging him to continue to maintain the security stability in the emirate council.
