The Niger state Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism has set up a Media and information Management committee to ensure adequate media coverage of the state government developmental activities.
Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Jonathan Tsado Vatsa, who disclosed this to journalists, said that the committee will comprise of media executives and practitioners in the state with the mandate to expand the scope of media highlights of government programmes.
He disclosed that the committee will be chaired by himself while the secretary of the committee will be the Managing Director of the state owned newspapers, Malam Abubakar Ndaman.
Mr Vatsa noted that the committee will design a sustainable strategy that will use the restoration agenda of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello as a vent to adequately engage the people of the state and keep them well informed.
The commissioner reiterated that “this team of practitioners and administrators will lubricate the information management machine of the state, ensure that the people are well informed on our development strides, which we all agreed is unprecedented
“It is all agreed that Mr Governor is delivering in all his campaign promises, so the development of the state is going on seriously. But the people must be made to know and understand these tangible and intangible developments going on for them to key in. So this committee will reinvigorate the mechanism that will make the people know, understand and key into our government restoration agenda for growth and development” he stated.
While appealing to the public to shun rumours, Vatsa stated that it will be counterproductive if people deliberately peddle rumours to cause disaffection and apprehension hence the need to keep the people well informed.
