Nigeria Won’t Survive If Christians, Muslims Continue To Fight, Says Gowon

Former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon has said that Nigeria cannot survive without the cooperation of the two major religions in the country.
Gowon stated this during a courtesy call on Governor Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa State’s in Government House, Yola.
He stressed that his two-day prayers visit to the state was purely for the purpose of praying for Nigeria and the leadership of the country which is in dare need of God’s intervention.
According to the former Head of State, Christians and Muslim are more similar religions than different because they offer the same kind of prayers to God, preaching the message of peace, unity and togetherness.
The former head of state was on a scheduled visit intended to tour the North East states part of Nigeria for prayers rally under a Program tagged “Nigeria Prays”.
He further explained that the prayers is purely going to dwell on the prayer point of ” if my people who are call by my name shall humble themselves, seek my face then I will hear from heaven and I will heal their land”.
“We are here to pray for the Country and we started it since earlier 1999,i believe that If we can get all Nigerians to pray to God, He will heal our land as Nigerian cannot do without the help of Christian and Muslim,so we must be together ,” he said
Gowon commended the developmental strides of Governor Bindow as quite impressive because according to him he “saw development from airport to Government House, Yola”.
He said the development was unprecedented as the state is much developed unlike the previous years he had visited.
In his response Governor Bindow stated that he remained privileged and honoured to have Gowon in the state as he is a father to him. He urged Gowon and to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and Adamawa State.
