The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) will honour the Senate President, Dr
Bukola Saraki, as part of activities marking its six-day National Executive Council Meeting in Ilorin, Kwara state.
The association’s NEC meeting will hold between August 25 and 30,2015.
The Senate President is billed to be honoured on August 29 at a dinner to round off the week-long NEC meeting
Chairman, Kwara state branch of the NMA, Dr Abubakar Ayinla, made this known during an interactive session with newsmen in Ilorin.
Ayinla said the formal opening ceremony of the event will take place on Thursday, August 27, at the Banquet Hall, opposite Government House, Ilorin.
According to him Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara state is expected to be the special guest of honour, while the keynote speaker would be delivered by the Registrar, National Post-Graduate Medical College of Nigeria, Professor Wole Atoyebi.
He added that the event with the theme ‘National Health Agenda: Purpose, Means and Targets’ is expected to have the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari and the Emir of Shonga, Alhaji Haliru Ndanusa Yahaya as the royal fathers of the event.
The formal opening is however to be preceded by a Medical Mission on Tuesday at Malete in Moro local government area of the state
The first NEC meeting will hold on Friday at the Banquet Hall, followed by a special Juma’at service same day.
“The closing ceremony and dinner of the six-day long event, which has been dedicated to honour the Senate President, Senator (Dr.) Abubakar Bukola Saraki, would take place on Saturday, August 29”, he stated.
