The 19 governors of states in the north have pledged to resuscitate the region-owned New Nigeria Newspaper.
They made the pledge, among others, at the meeting of the Northern Governors Forum (NGF) at the Hassan Usman Katsina House, Kaduna.
Secretaries to the Northern state Governments were asked to carry out an in-depth study of New Nigeria Newspapers Limited and present a report for consideration at the next meeting of the forum.
The meeting had in-depth discussion on security challenges in the Northern region and condemned the bomb blast that occurred at the IDPs camp in Yola.
Decisions were also taken to reposition the New Nigeria Development Company so as to improve on the economic situation of the Northern region.
At the end of the meeting, Adamawa State Governor, Muhammed Umar Jibrilla, said the interest of the Northern Governors was to see that the people of the region live a more prosperous life.
The governors lamented the alarming rate of insecurity in the region and resolved to ensure protection of lives and property of citizens at all levels as a constitutional responsibility.
