The Leader of Ndigbo in Adamawa State, Eze Igbo lll, Igwe Godwin Emeka, has described the quit notice given to Igbo in the North by some Northern youth as “mere propaganda,” asserting that Igbos in the region are going nowhere because they are also bonafide sons and daughters of the northern region and consider the order as “a huge mistake.”
“Nigeria is our father land, we are sons and daughters of these great country, leave and go where? he asked.
Speaking with journalists in his Yola Palace, Igwe Emeka he maintained that the Arewa youth were ignorant of the fact that Igbo are Nigerians and also part of the North.
According to him, “Igbos exist in Adamawa and other northern states, they are part of the people and culture of the north and not strangers.”
He stressed that Igbo were high contributors to the growth and development of any state they reside, hence were un-detachable part of the community they live in.
His words: “If we go to the East, we are considered strangers thus the North is
home to us. Most of us were born and grew up in the north, we were schooled in the North, married in the North, we have relationships and bond with the people of the North, we are Igbos of the North.”
The Igwe called upon his people in the North not to panic but continue to do their businesses like never before as they are home.
“The Igbos are peace-loving people whose main goal is to contribute to the development of wherever they find themselves,” the Igwe disclosed.
While praying for peace and unity in the country the Igwe called upon the federal and state governments to ensure they protect the Igbo and their property nationwide.
