
The Olokine of Ojowo, Ijebu Igbo, in Ogun State, Alaiyeluwa Oba Abdulrasheed Abayomi Banjo, has installed the Oloritun of Lepete , Ojowo, Ijebu Igbo, Chief Temitayo Quadri.
The installation, according to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olokine of Ojowo, Chief Femi Ogunlari, took place on Saturday 19 February, 2022.
In a charge to Chief Quadri, the “Olokine of Ojowo admonished him to ensure peaceful coexistence of people in the area as that was the only catalyst for development. He was also advised to desist from acts that can tarnish the image of Ojowo in the discharge of his duties whilst being reminded that the Olokine Palace ‘s policy of zero tolerance to corruption and indiscipline is still in force.”
The statement added: “Handing over the instruments of office to the new Oloritun , Oba Abdulrasheed Abayomi Banjo expressed dissatisfaction at the spate of illegal chiefs parading themselves in the kingdom and reminded all of the legal implications of doing same .
“To restore sanity, the Olokine inaugurated the Ojowo Chieftaincy Verification and Authentication Committee to which all chieftaincy title holders in Ojowo are to present themselves with relevant chieftaincy documents for verification and authentication. The Olokine advised those with illegal documents to be seriously guided and subsequently stop parading themselves as chiefs in Ojowo Kingdom. The committee is headed by Chief Kazeem Agbolade and has Chief Bisi Ogundero as secretary. The committee has 30 days to submit its report.
“Oba Abdulrasheed Abayomi Banjo called on all chiefs in Ojowo to appear before the committee within the stipulated time with documents to authenticate them as the kingdom can no longer tolerate illegality from anyone no matter how highly placed .
The installation programme was well attended by all the senior Olorituns in Ojowo namely Chief Tolu Ogunyemi (Etitale), Chief Tayo Osikoya (Aledo), Chief Lasisi Odugbesan (Amutebu) and Chief S.T Ogunbambi (Odosenbadejo).
“Other Olorituns in Ojowo, Chief Nureni Bakare, Chief Kuti, the Olootu Pampa of Ojowo, Chief Kazeem Agbolade, and members of his clan (Chiefs Bisiriyu Jobiewe, Dimeji Sokoya, Taiwo Soga , Rasheed Lawal, Biodun Okeowo), members of Ojowo Traditional Council – Chief (Engr.) Okubanjo, Chief Bisi Ogundero, Chief Segun Oketola, Chief Adegbesan , Chief Samuel Adesina, Chief Johnson Oriowo, Chief Mrs. Abeje Gbebolaja, Chief Alaba Isamo, Alhaji Sabitu Amusat – Market Chief (Chief Suara Ogundero) well as the people from Lepete community in Ojowo were all in attendance.
Prayers were offered for Lepete community, Ojowo and Ijebu Igbo and the programme ended with a charge to Ojowo indigenes to be actively involved in the installation programme of the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo.
