The 2022 Ojowo Prays programme which kicked off on 5 January through 7 January has ended at the weekend with a grand finale prayer session held at the Olokine Palace, Ojowo , Ijebu Igbo Ogun State.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olokine of Ojowo, Chief Femi Ogunlari, revealed that “the programme which is the first of its kind in Ogun State is an interreligious and interdemininational prayer programme designed to commit all sons and daughters of Ojowo and Ijebu Igbo as well as non-natives that reside in the kingdom to God with the strong believe that anything committed to God’s hands can never fail .This year’s  programme was attended by no fewer than 400 persons, including people of different faith cutting across religions and denominations.”

The statement continued: “Welcoming people to the occasion, Chief Thomas Adebisi Ogundero who is the chairman of the 2022 Planning Committee as well as the Majeobaje of Ojowo Kingdom said the programme was instituted in deference to the supremacy of God over mortals, noting that with God nothing shall be impossible. He encouraged people to pray fervently because there were sufficient testimonies to prove that God has never failed in answering our prayers in Ojowo and Ijebu Igbo.

“Giving his message on the occasion, the Olokine of Ojowo, Oba Abdulrasheed Abayomi Banjo, said his primary responsibility was the safety, peace and sustained progress of all Ojowo natives, friends and those residing in the kingdom that are non-natives as well as the continued peaceful coexistence of the various towns that make up the larger Ijebu Igbo community which could only be achieved on his kneels since he had no direct control of the safety and security architecture which is on  the exclusive list of the Federal Government, noting that by strength shall no man prevail .

“He used the occasion to congratulate the Warrant Chiefs [who recently elected a new Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo after a 27-year interregnum] for doing us proud. He commended the selection process adjudging it as fair and credible given the strict adherence to the unambiguous supreme court judgment.  Subsequently, Oba Banjo congratulated the Orimolusi-elect while urging him to be magnanimous in victory through the extension of olive branch to others for the common good, peace and development of the larger Ijebu Igbo community. Oba Banjo pledge the commitment of Ojowo to having a mutually beneficial relationship with the incoming Orimolusi when finally installed and subsequently prayed for long and peaceful reign for him.

“However, Oba Banjo cautioned that only a united Ijebu Igbo can guarantee the peace and much-sought progress necessary to make up for our almost 28 years of the Orimolusi interregnum, asking advisers to the Orimolusi-Elect to think of Ijebu Igbo first in all their activities .

“Oba Abdulrasheed Abayomi Banjo offered prayers for all Ojowo natives   home and abroad, non-natives as well as sponsors of the programme asking God not only meet them at the points of their needs but raise voices for them where necessary.

“Prayers were also offered by the faithful of various religions and denominations for Ojowo, other towns, Ijebu land and Nigeria as a whole.”
