The Ojowo Traditional Council (OTC) has congratulated the Orimolusi-Elect, Prince Lawrence Jayeoba Adebajo, over his triumph in the 27-year-old tussle for the revered throne of the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo.

The OTC congratulatory message was conveyed in a letter dated 5 January 2022 with reference number OTC/22/01/05, addressed directly to Prince Adebajo and signed by Chief Thomas Adebisi Ogundero, the Majeobaje of Ojowo Kingdom cum Assistant Secretary, Ojowo Traditional Council.

In view of the many events that had occurred while the Orimolusi interregnum lasted, especially the litigations involving aspirants to the throne which went all the way to the Supreme Court and the misgivings these might have engendered within and outside the Ojuromi Ruling House to which Prince Adebajo belongs, the OTC urged the incoming Orimolusi “to be magnanimous in victory by extending your olive branch to contestants for the overall peace and progress of Ijebu-Igbo community.”

The letter reads in full:

“Following your selection by Ogun State Government duely appointed warrant chiefs, Ojowo Traditional Council writes to congratulate you on your emergence as Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo.

“We further wish to admonish you to be magnanimous in victory by extending your olive branch to contestants for the overall peace and progress of Ijebu-Igbo community.

“Whilst wishing you a very long and peaceful reign, we hereby pledge our loyalty and earnestly looking forward for a mutually beneficially working relationship with your office.

“Congratulations, Kabiyesi Alayeluwa.

“Thank you”

  1. I join all the good people of Ijebu Igbo in congratulating the noble warrant chiefs for facilitating a successful end to a long and tortuous period of interregnum occasioned by internal feud within the Ojuromi family. I rejoice also with our people for a new dawn of highly rewarding prospective social, economic and political revival and placement of our kingdom back to her rightful leadership position among the Yoruba OBAs. However,we should not be blinded by the euphoria of the present achievement. We should see through our tears of joy the realities of the enormous challenges ahead that face our Kabiesi and all of us which must be identified very quickly and addressed in the most intelligent an matured manner. The challenges include the various negative forces both internal and external that worked and prayed against a successful choice of an Orimolusi selfishly believing that the installation of an Orimolusi would threaten their dignity and importance. Some believe that and Orimolusi, if popular and courageous might not be a stooge to be used as footmat. Additionally, those who could not rescue us from the pains of 27years have no iota of relevance to us however big or small the individual is. Finally, our Oba Lawrence Adeoba Adebajo needs God, needs selfless people with high intellect, courage and wisdom to assist him steer and pilot our ship so we land safely at the promised land. He does not need money bags and shady characters So help us God.
