Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has signed the N267 billion 2016 appropriation bill into law.
This amount comprises N153b recurrent expenditure and N114 billion as capital expenditure
Governor Okowa, while signing the bill at a brief ceremony in Government House, Asaba expressed appreciation to the House of Assembly for taking their time to ensure the speedy passage of the bill.
Okowa promised to block all the loopholes that hitherto existed in the state to ensure it generated adequate revenue.
He called on Deltans to cooperate with his administration in a bid to generate more funds to deliver his mandate, stressing that taxing them was to punish them.
The governor commended the Speaker and the Assembly for the speedy passage of the bill.
Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Monday Igbuya, said that they had to sacrifice their Christmas holiday to ensure early passage of the bill.
He noted that Governor Okowa has all it takes to develop the state.
