The rank of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirants swelled on Wednesday, 4th April, 2022 as a former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, joined the list by obtaining his N100 million form which would make him eligible to participate in the party’s presidential primary come 30th May, 2022.

Speaking after obtaining the form in Abuja, the one-time national chairman of the APC promised to make Nigeria “the smartest country in the world”.

He said Nigeria should not merely be proud of its large size in Africa but should become the smartest country on the continent and do things right to move forward.

He promised to take the banking industry to greater heights and thanked the Central Bank Governor (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, for his policy initiative which he said helped in modernising the Nigerian economy.

The declaration event

Oshiomhole said under his presidency the Market would no longer be left in the hands of market forces as he would run a mixed market where government regulations would be strictly adhered to in order to banish poverty from the country.

His words: ” I don’t believe in size. What will I do with size after all I am not a size person? I will rather make Nigeria the Smartest Country in the World. We should do better in managing our affairs as a nation to uplift our citizens and not just proudly be the largest country in Africa.

“I’ll add value to Buhari’s policies especially in agriculture and economy. I will make people to eat and wear what is produced in Nigeria. If I eat and wear what is produced in Nigeria as the president, then who is too big to do that?

“Military, police, civil defence, customs and all the other paramilitary uniforms will be produced in Nigeria and I think that will bring huge employment opportunities to our youth.

” No youth will be unemployed and this is the sure way to end insecurity in the country. I’ll assemble experts in all human endeavours to make sure our economy and human resource management are adequately addressed.”

Oshiomhole also promised to improve workers’ welfare, solve the issues in the university system as raised by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and make the learning environment conducive for all students.
