The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday 30 January 2024 sent a strong warning to those plotting to dethroned Alhaji Umar Ganduje as the party’s national chairman, saying there is no vacancy in the office of national chairman.

There are media reports claiming that the North Central is plotting to reclaim the APC national chairmanship after Sen. Abdullahi Adamu’s early exit from the position.

The plots is alleged to be spearheaded by Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State and the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

Governor Sule is allegedly sponsoring former governor of Nasarawa state, Tanko Almakura, who recently had a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.

Also, Ex-Governor Yahaya Bello is believed to be interested in the national chairmanship position of the party, going by his campaign posters to that effect which were used to flood Abuja some days ago.

However addressing journalists at the APC media center at the party National Secretariat in Abuja, the APC National Publicity Secretary Barr Felix Morka said the party was aware of the posters of some individuals eyeing Sen. Umar Ganduje shoes but warned that there was no vacancy in the office of APC National Chairman.

Morka said: “There is no vacancy in the office of the National Chairman of the party. Our National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje is our chairman and he is operating as the chairman.

“So, there is no vacancy in that office. And yes, we have also seen some of those posters. This is democracy. People do what they want. But, make no mistakes because the office of the National Chairman is properly and fully occupied.

“And we have absolute and total confidence in his leadership of the party. Nobody is asking for that office to be declared vacant and it is not vacant. I will want to warn those who are throwing these papers around to desist from doing that.

“That is not our priority right now. We need to concentrate on the job that needs to be done to solve some of the problems that will make our country a better place for all of us.”
