Director of Publicity, Bayelsa Restoration Organisation Campaign, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite, has joined other well-meaning Bayelsans to call for thorough investigation into the clash between policemen attached to the All Progressive Congress (APC), Chairman Chief Tiwei Orunimieghe and officials of the Bayelsa State Environmental Sanitation Authority (BSESA) during the last month sanitation exercise in the state.
Reacting to a media report over the clash, Obuebite, who is also the PDP spokesman in the state, alleged an orchestrated plan by the APC stalwarts was not only to subvert the law of the land but to pull the wool over the eyes of Bayelsans not to see the urban renewal of the restoration administration of Governor Seriake Dickson.
According to a statement he issued, Obuebite wondered how APC leaders and some party faithful would want to flout a statutory restriction order as expressed in the sanitation law by removing the barricade put up by BSESA on sanitation day.
He maintained that “Bayelsans can now see the habitual behaviour of some lawless and disgruntled APC chieftains who are bent on truncating democracy in the state for their insatiable hunger for political position at the corridor of power.”
He observed that “a political party that claims that the PDP government has not provided sustainable development and wants to unseat Governor Seriake Dickson in subverting the laws of the land.”
“Also, ordering uniformed policemen to shoot sporadically into the air to create insecurity and mayhem in the state was a deliberate attempt to serve an ill-conceived purpose of discrediting Dickson’s integrity and administration.” Obuebite added.
He therefore, called on the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, to order a thorough investigation into the near security breach allegedly perpetrated by some trigger happy policemen attached to the APC stalwarts in the state, “and bring them to book.”
