The Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS ) has disclosed that the board generated about N9.1 billion as Internally Generated Revenue in the year 2016.
This was made known by the board Executive Chairman, Mr. Dashe Arlat Dasogot, during the 3rd edition of the Plateau State Stakeholders’ Roundtable Engagement on taxation and unveiling of the ‘Smart Revenue System’ held at the Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
According to the chairman, the last year IGR was historical as last year figures surpassed collection of the years back of the PSIRS existence in the state, adding that” this is even without full tap of the MDAs and other taxable population.”
Dwasogot however said that for there to be resonable improvement and to attain the budgetary expectations of the state, the MDAs must wake up and harness their services as income-generating activities. He called on all the stakeholders to support tax operators by way of advocacy and popularising taxation as civic responsibily.
Responding the Plateau State Governor, Bar. Simon Lalong said every taxable entity and individual should in turn, reciprocate and commit to voluntarily pay their taxes for the greater good of the state.
