One of the suspected killer of a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, late Miss Idowu Yetunde Shukurat, has been arraign before an Ilorin Magistrate’s Court
The suspect, Abdullahi Tanko, was arraigned on Monday before Magistrate K.A. Yahyah.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Matthew Ologbon informed the court that on May 23, 2015, at about 12pm ,the Police received a distress call that they should come to
Simeon Okedi street in Ilorin GRA.
Ologbon said when the police got to the place, they found the late corps member in a pool of blood on the ground.
He told the court that investigation by the Police revealed that Tanko and his collaborators who are now at large conspired to trick the deceased from her residence at saw-mill area to Shoprite area where she was raped in a car and killed.
He added that after they had raped the late corps member at Tanko’s residence area, Plot 6,Simion Okedi Upabiasika junction GRA, the suspects carried her dead body to a nearby junction, with her blood flowing along the way.
He added that the Police were able to trace the blood to Tanko’s house to arrest him. Besides, the prosecutor told the court that the mobile phone of the decease with mobile number 08132188661,was found on Tanko at the point his was arrested.
Ologbon added that efforts were on to arrest Tanko’s flee gangs by the police.
The prosecutor urged the Court to remand the suspected killer in Prison Custody until other suspects were arrested and completion of the Police investigation.
Magistrate K.A Yahaya order that Tanko, who is 51 years old, be remanded in Mandala federal prison and adjourned further hearing till August 10, 2015.
