The Bauchi state police command has continued to record successes in its onslaught against criminals in the state, a statement made by the command’s Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Mahmood Mohammad, has disclosed.
Mohammed said that the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) ha smashed a robbery syndicate which specialised in car-snatching and burglary particularly after midnight within the metropolis.
The statement said the alleged suspects were involved in recent robberies around residential homes in Gidado Umar and Dubu Housing Estate areas in Bauchi, adding that three suspects have been arrested and were assisting the police to fish-out their fleeing accomplices among others.
According to the statement, one Barreta pistol, one macrov pistol, one Dark Blue Toyota Highlander jeep, one Toyota Corolla Saloon Car with No. YGJ133AA, one Fabricated Master Key and Six rounds of 0.6mm live ammunitions and two cartridges were recovered as exhibit.
The statement also disclosed said that “at about 21:00hours, detectives attached to anti-kidnapping unit of the command arrested one Adamu Mairakumi ‘ m’, a notorious cattle rustling/kidnapping gang leader who is wanted in connection with over 17 kidnapping/armed robbery along with cattle rustling cases in which over 20 victims were kidnapped for ransom.”
One of the gang’s victims included one Saleh Isah, male of Zidi village in Ganjuwa local government Bauchi state who was sometimes in September 2015 shot on his lower abdomen and his 45 cows, 85 sheep carted away by bandits.
Exhibits recovered from the suspected cattle rustlers included an AK47 rifle, 60 cows and 85 sheep.
The command added that it had arrested a suspected armed robber and kidnapper, Ishiyaka Yahaya, a 20-year-old male from Ganjuwa Local Government in the state.
