Police Launch ‘Stop and Search’ Operations In Delta

To check rising spate of armed robbery attack in the area, the Delta State Police Command has launched “Operation stop and search” in the state.

Armed robbery attacks have become a daily occurrence in the state in recent times, prompting the latest measure. On July 26, 2015, anti-crime patrol men attached to Enerhen Division, while on routine patrol at Enerhen junction heard gun shots near Shell Club and immediately rushed to the scene, only to meet armed robbers in operation.

The hoodlums, on sighting the patrol men, opened fire on them. In the ensuing gun duel, three of the armed robbers were shot and arrested while one of them escaped.

According to police public relation, DSP Celestina Kalu in press release made available to The Dream Daily items recovered from the hoodlums include two guns, seven lives cartridges, four expended cartridges and three handsets.
She said the victims of the incident, one Erhuvwu Osirim and one person were unhurt.
DSP Kalu said that the arrested suspects were receiving treatment at General Hospital Warri, while a manhunt for their fleeing cohort was ongoing.

Similarly the Anti-Crime patrol men attached to Enerhen Division on July 27 while on special stop and search operation at Motel ‘A’ black spot Enerhen accosted one tricycle with Reg. No. TDU 872 QA driven by one Friday Nwankwo of Igbudu MC Dermott road Warri, with two passengers on board.

The police image maker said while searching the tricycle the two passengers suddenly jumped down, and took to their heels, abandoning the rider and the tricycle.

Items recovered from the tricycle included a travelling bag containing one double barrel gun, six live cartridges and charms.
