BEING WELCOME ADDRESS BY THE FORCE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER, ACP OLABISI KOLAWOLE ON THE OCCASION OF THE PREMIERE OF THE MAIDEN POLICE TELEVISION SERIES ENTITLED, “BEYOND YOUR SIGHT” HELD ON THE 7TH JUNE, 2016 AT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE, ABUJA

Protocol,

I welcome you all to the premiere of the First Nigeria Police Television Series – “Beyond Your Sight”, the first of its kind in the annals of Nigeria Police history. This is a concept of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase NPM, fdc to further his policing vision which is woven around the public and connected in the most sociable manner with a broad spectrum of Nigerians.
Beyond your sight is not just a movie, it is a creation that portrays the intelligence, investigative and prosecutorial expertise of the Nigeria Police Force. It is a work that documents the professional competency of the Nigeria Police Force in carrying out its constitutional functions, in spite of its institutional challenges.
The objective of this television series is not only to showcase the achievement of the Nigeria Police Force but also a confidence building technique that will encourage Nigerians to have faith in their own Police Force and it is also to educate the policemen and women on how to better relate and partner with the police, hence projecting that popular parlance “Police is Your Friend and Partner”.
I am pleased to inform you that the setup of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of IGP Solomon Arase has effectively given the member of the Force an edge over the criminal element in our society.
It will be recalled that when IGP Solomon Arase came on board as the Inspector-General of Police, he made it known that he would give the country an evolution of a new order in policing the country. Beyond your sight highlights that evolution. It must be known however, that while the Force intends to use this movie as a channel to educate, sensitize and enlighten the public of the need for safety and security, it is expected that Nigerians and indeed all stakeholders of our internal security will support this idea in its processes of rebranding the Nigeria Police to meet its constitutional obligations.
I remembered that day in May 2015, when the IGP called me to his office and said ‘Bisi go and make this work.2 I want to inform the IGP today that his leadership is “sine qua non” to the success of the TV series. Thirteen episodes of the Police TV series make up the quarterly production have already been produced. The series are produced and directed by multiple awards winning movies producer, Lancelot Odua Imasuen and it featured prominent Nollywood actors such as Desmond Elliot and Segun Arinze, among others. I am, therefore, thanking the Inspector-General of Police and his Management team.
Please let me inform you that the TV series is public driving, the sustainability depends on you all our stakeholders and partners in progress, after today’s premiere we intend to commence broadcast on different Television Stations across the nation. At this stage I will solicit for your kind support and sponsorship to keep this educative and sensitizing project alive. To you, members of the 4th Estate of the realm, my very first partners in progress, I pray for your continuous support and contributions in situating the Nigeria Police Force in the hearts of Nigerians will increase with your publicity of this achievements.
Thank you all and God bless.
